ABOUT
BIO
Originally from St. Louis, I am a multidisciplinary artist with a diverse background in graphic design, interior design, and painting. I studied at Kansas University's design school and obtained my BFA from Webster University. My career began as a graphic designer at Hellmuth, Obata, and Kassabaum Architects (HOK), where my passion for 3D design flourished. This led me to pursue a career in interiors and restoration. In 1996, I relocated to Chicago and established Elaine Davis Design Interiors. In 2012 I shifted my focus to painting. I have studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, Dunedin Art Center as well as workshops throughout the U.S. Currently a member of Chicago Alliance of Visual Arts, Elmhurst Artist Guild and Sarasota Studio Artists Association. I now split my time between Chicago and Sarasota. ARTIST STATEMENT
As an abstract painter, I explore the interplay of neutral tones and textures through a multi-medium approach. By layering various materials and techniques, I aim to create a visual language that evokes a sense of depth and complexity. I invite viewers to engage with the subtle nuances and emotions that emerge from the interplay of color, texture, and form.
